Five-Fools has been one of my favourite fun-projects so far!  (I hope you forgive the unintentional, non-smart alliteration *facepalms*). This bunch found their homie-group in junior college and have been tight bound ever since. As usually happens with college friendships, they too were going off to different places after graduating. Not knowing when they'd get to meet up again- this illustration was their parting gift, as a mark of love and homie-ship, on what would be their final hangout for a long time to come.
I'd never been more glad to be a college student myself as I could relate with their stories. From what I could gauge from the references-the shared photos and descriptions, I wanted to bring-out the quirks and features that each was known for in the group; the heartthrob, the studious one goddess-curls, the artsy gal, the bookworm, and the mom of the group! I made five variants of the final illustration (one for each homie) in a blend of vintage and contemporary styled poster-like format, that could match the vibe of the group dynamic. Since each of these pieces were to be framed in classic black/white borders, I customised them accordingly.
They were psyched with how it turned out! I was psyched with how it turned out!
And since it felt so warm and personal, I threw in an little animated freebie of the illustration for their Instagram stories ;)  Check it out below-
